macamp lite x launch fix

If your copy of MacAmp Lite X inexplicably stops launching, it could be a corrupt license file. The license is kept in the file '~/Library/Preferences/.matlx_license', with '~' being your home directory. Note the dot before the name, and the fact that it is intentionally misspelled. The dot preceding the name means that the file will not show up if you navigate to your Preferences folder via the Finder. To delete the file, there are two methods that you could employ. The first requires you to use the Terminal, and the second is much more user-friendly.

  • (1) Open up a Terminal and type the following: 'rm ~/Library/Preferences/.matlx_license' (sans quotes). Open up MacAmp Lite X, and, if this solved your problem, you can now reregister it.
  • (2) Go to the TinkerTool home page, download the file (the link is near the bottom of the page), decompress it, and run the application. Click on the Finder tab, select 'show hidden and system files' under the 'Finder Options' section, and click 'Relaunch Finder'. The Finder should quit and restart. Open up a window, go to your home folder, open the Library folder and then the Preferences folder. Inside, you should be able to locate the previously-invisible file called '.matlx_license' and move it to the Trash. Open up MacAmp Lite X, and, if this solved your problem, you can now reregister it. Next, reopen TinkerTool, deselect 'show hidden and system files' and relaunch the Finder.
